Start by combining your clay/mud, liquid additives, and dry additives in a small bowl ensuring to avoid using any metal. We suggest using a silicone bowl and spatula like ours. Set your mask aside.
Thoroughly wash your face with a gentle cleanser to remove any makeup, dirt, and oil. We suggest using one of our facial bars.
While your skin is moist, apply your mask evenly using a clean silicone spatula or your fingertips, avoiding the eye and mouth areas. We recommend using a hairband to keep your hair off your face to make this process easier.
Relax and let the mask do its job. Leave the mask on until it is about 90% dry, do not let the mask completely dry. Most masks typically take about 10 minutes to get to this point depending on the ingredients.
Once the time is up, rinse off the mask with warm water. You may want to use a washcloth or gentle facial sponge to help remove the mask. Note that some ingredients may stain your washcloth.
Finish your routine by applying your usual serum and/or moisturizer to your face.
Include the use of face rollers and gua sha for added benefits like improved blood flow, reduced puffiness, and help promote lymphatic drainage.

The frequency of using a clay face mask depends on your skin type and the specific mask you are using. As a general guideline, it's recommended to use a clay mask once or twice a week. However, if you have oily or acne-prone skin, you may benefit from using a clay mask more frequently, up to three times a week. If you have dry or sensitive skin, it's best to limit clay mask use to once a week to avoid over-drying the skin.

It is not recommended to use metal with clay face masks because the metal can react with the clay and change its properties, making it less effective. Additionally, metal can potentially oxidize and create free radicals on the skin, which can cause damage.
Not to worry! Simply mix the leftover clay with water. A clay + water face mask is fabulous.
